Labor disputes within the UN system

Staff members of the United Nations (UN) and international organizations in Geneva (such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), International Labor Organization (ILO), World Health Organization (WHO), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), etc. cannot use the national courts to resolve labor disputes, because the organizations have immunity.  Such disputes are resolved by special-purpose judicial bodies funded by the organizations, namely the UN Dispute Tribunal, the UN Appeals Tribunal, and the ILO Administrative Tribunal.

Since 2013, Dr Hill has acted as consultant, co-counsel, or counsel in over 100 labor disputes. The vast majority of cases settle to the client's satisfaction.  If not, the cases are litigated in front of the ILO Administrative Tribunal or the UN Dispute Tribunal and UN Appeals Tribunal.
